A Curriculum Vitæ – literally, Latin for ‘course of life’ – is an academic résumé. It exhaustively lists one’s accomplishments: education, scholarship, creative work, teaching, and service to the discipline, and is typically organized into categories and presented chronogically. For an experienced college professor, the document can be many pages in length.

However, the CV is actually a list of one’s work and not of one’s full life. It is not encyclopædic or personal.

Curriculo Veritas – defined as ‘quick truth’ – remedies this by extracting keywords from the author’s CV that are related to life beyond the academy. A more ambiguous and poetic portrait is revealed.

___

Curriculo Veritas was created at Eastern Michigan University’s Open Book workshop, held in August 2013 in bucolic, woodsy northern Michigan. I was an invited participant.

The scroll is 16 feet in length and four inches wide.
